Zebra Danio Characteristics
The fish has the quite complicated stripes colorful pattern on their body. The fish have the flattened shape with fusiform with its mouth upwards. The male has the elongated rounded shape with gold stripes between the blue stripes on the body. The female has a larger whitish belly with silver stripes rather than the gold. The zebrafish dwells in rivers and streams in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Myanmar, and Bhutan. The species prefer to inhabit in rivers, channels, rivers, and ponds. Zebra Danio Breeding
The zebra danio is easy to breed in captivity at home aquarium just using some simple tips. Keep the water under one or two inch from large glass marbles. Give some time to female to settle down in the breeding tank then put the male as well. The cold temperature increases the probability of courtship to begin. In the favorable conditions, the female will release her eggs in the open water and male immediately fertilize them. The eggs will then settle down at the bottom of the tank and after seven days, the eggs will hatch.
Both male and female should remove from the tank after hatching of eggs. During the seven days, the parents of eggs constantly well fed. The species spawn best in the morning due to their circadian rhythms. The attraction for females is not exactly understood. The décor plants in the tank can also encourage the female for spawning. Large use of the plastic decoration in the tank can disrupt the spawning process.

The species have the strong immune system and not easily gets the diseases if the aquarium properly maintained. The fish species commonly caught by ich if the water quality is not good. The diseases in the tank may come with other fish species, plants, substrate, and even from decoration. A stressed fish can easily be caught by bacteria, parasite or ich. The water of the tank should be changed as regularly before increasing of bacteria or ich in the aquarium or tank. A filter in the tank can create a big difference.
